A presente dissertação versa sobre o método Gender Mainstreaming na sua especial relação com o princípio da igualdade e o princípio da não discriminação. O primeiro e segundo capítulo apresentam uma breve introdução ao tema, fazendo o respetivo enquadramento teórico e evolução história dos conceitos. Os dois capítulos subsequentes expõem a igualdade enquanto pilar fundamental do Estado de Direito democrático e abordam a questão da desigualdade de género. O quinto capítulo é dedicado a aclaração da estratégia do gender mainstreaming e a contextualização das políticas públicas para a igualdade de género em Portugal e na União Europeia. Por fim, o último capítulo reflete sobre os desafios da atualidade e do futuro, alertando para a necessidade de implementação da perspetiva de género nas políticas públicas como forma de combater e eliminar as barreiras à igualdade entre homens e mulheres. |

This dissertation deals with the Gender Mainstreaming method in its special relationship with the principle of equality and the principle of non-discrimination. The first and second chapters present a brief introduction to the subject, setting out the theoretical framework and the historical evolution of the concepts. The next two chapters set out equality as a fundamental pillar of the democratic rule of law and address the issue of gender inequality. The fifth chapter is dedicated to clarifying the gender mainstreaming strategy and contextualizing public policies for gender equality in Portugal and the European Union. Finally, the last chapter reflects on current and future challenges, highlighting the need to implement a gender perspective in public policies as a way of combating and eliminating barriers to equality between men and women. |
