Partindo de um ponto inicial de atribuir um significado aos espaços considerados vazios, com ausência de construção, surgiu a necessidade de criar um quadro teórico e prático para sustentar as várias potencialidades associadas ao vazio. Nesse propósito, a presente dissertação procurou redescobrir vantagens adjacentes às qualificações que a arquitetura atual exige, e sob a qual, os espaços vazios se encontram prontificados a intervir. No decorrer deste trabalho científico irão ser apresentados pontos de referência, no âmbito da arquitetura urbana e habitacional, introduzindo o tema do vazio a par de uma evolução natural da sociedade. Foram destacados alguns modelos do vazio, preponderantes no universo construtivo, bem como as funções que mais convertem para uma arquitetura otimizada e de real utilidade. O projeto apresentado pelo autor da presente dissertação foi referenciado no trabalho apresentado, como elemento de análise e comparação com os restantes enfoques teóricos, nomeadamente os tipos de vazio na arquitetura (em particular, o pátio e o saguão) e casos de estudo a ser abordados. Para tal investigação, o autor recorreu, em primeiro lugar, a uma metodologia, maioritariamente, de caráter teórico, e num momento posterior, de índole também exploratória, mas, de grosso modo, presencial e prática. |

The need of creating a theoretical and pratical frame to sustain the several potentialities associated to the void arisen from a starting point of attributing a meaning for spaces which are deemed as void. For that purpose, the presente thesis aimed to rediscover advantages inherent to the qualifications that nowadays architecture requires, and in which empty spaces are ready to step in. Throughout this scientific work, several points of reference will be presented, in regard of housing and urban architecture, introducing the theme of the void along with the natural evolution of society. Some models of void which are revelant in the universe of construction were highlighted, as well as the functions which more usually transform them into a useful and optimized architecture. The project which the author of the present thesis was referenced in the presented work, as an element of analysis and comparison with the other theoretical points of focus, namely the different kinds of void in architecture (particularly, the courtyard and the crush-room) and cases of study to be addressed. For such investigation, the author recurred, initially, to a mostly theoretical methodology, and, afterwards, a practical metheodology, although still of exploratory nature. |
