Rachel is known as a poet, and a pioneer of the Hebrew language. But some of her work is still unacknowledged, namely her literary articles and her translations. Rachel translated poets in different languages, and in French in particular. The poems she choses to translate are a testimony to her rich knowledge of the French poets of her time, her taste for the song-poem or prayer-poem, her interest for symbolism. One could qualify her translation skill as the art of faithfulness and freedom. |
