Claim: |
1. A transparent composite material comprising a cured product of a resin composition having from 60 to 90% by mass of a vinyl ester resin composition which has a vinyl ester resin being synthesized from an aliphatic epoxy compound, having dispersed therein from 10 to 40% by mass of synthetic smectite that is organized with a quaternary ammonium salt and/or a quaternary phosphonium salt and has a number average particle diameter of from 10 to 300 nm and an aspect ratio of from 10 to 300, the composition being cured. |
Claim: |
2. The transparent composite material according to claim 1, wherein the vinyl ester resin is synthesized from an epoxy compound having an alicyclic structure. |
Claim: |
3. The transparent composite material according to claim 1, wherein the vinyl ester resin is synthesized from a hydrogenated bisphenol A epoxy resin. |
Claim: |
4. The transparent composite material according to claim 1, wherein the vinyl ester resin composition comprises from 30 to 100% by mass of a vinyl ester resin and from 0 to 70% by mass of a reactive monomer having an ethylenic unsaturated group. |
Claim: |
5. The transparent composite material according to claim 1, wherein the synthetic smectite is at least one selected from synthetic hectorite, synthetic saponite and synthetic stevensite. |
Claim: |
6. The transparent composite material according to claim 1, wherein the quaternary ammonium salt for organizing the synthetic smectite is at least one selected from lauryltrimethylammonium salt, stearyltrimethylammonium salt, trioctylmethylammonium salt, distearyldimethylammonium salt, di-hydrogenated beef tallow dimethylammonium salt, distearyldibenzylammonium salt and N-polyoxyethylene-N-lauryl-N,N-dimethylammonium salt. |
Claim: |
7. The transparent composite material according to claim 1, wherein a hydroxyl group present on a surface of the synthetic smectite is treated with a surface modification agent. |
Claim: |
8. The transparent composite material according to claim 7, wherein the surface modification agent is selected from a silane coupling agent, a titanate coupling agent, a glycidyl compound, an isocyanate compound, carboxylic acids and alcohols. |
Claim: |
9. A transparent plate comprising the transparent composite material according to claim 1 and having an average coefficient of thermal expansion of 30 ppm/° C. or less in a planar direction at from 50 to 250° C. and a total light transmittance of 85% or more per 100 μm in thickness. |
Claim: |
10. A method for producing the transparent composite material according to claim 1, comprising the steps of: coating a composition comprising a vinyl ester resin compound, synthetic smectite and a solvent, before curing, on a flat plane having a smooth surface; then drying the solvent; holding the flat plane with sheets or films having a smooth surface; and curing with an electron beam (EB), an ultraviolet ray (UV) or heat. |
