مستخلص: The main methods of underground blasting for face rounds are the burn cut, the V-cut, and the fan cut. The burn cut is a parallel hole cut, usually used in smaller drifts where space does not allow for angled drilling, in stronger rock types, and in metal mining. It provides good fragmentation and face advance and keeps the muck pile close to the face. Its major problems include drill deviation, design difficulties, difficult loading and hookup, and likelihood for deadpressing modern explosives. V-cuts and fan cuts both operate by angling drillholes to create a burden to the open face and creating a larger opening as the blast progresses. The V-cut generally allows for larger face advance and the ability to employ advanced vibration control measures, but it requires a much larger opening and can be more cumbersome to drill. The fan cut is less commonly used than the V-cut and can be used in smaller drifts, but can result in higher costs in larger rooms. V-cuts and fan cuts both produce a face advance less than a similar burn cut. Factors which affect choice of cut include desired fragmentation, desired condition of the muck pile, handling of boulders, and necessary drilling equipment.
