Title, date, subject, and physical description by Diane de Grazia, 2014. Schulman dates the drawing to between 1855 and 1860. Michel Schulman, Theodore Rousseau: 1812-1867, Paris, 1997, vol. 1, p. 214, cat. no. 389 Bradley Collection catalogue LC B 1513 Bequest; George Lothrop Bradley; 1919. Schulman noted the naiveté of the drawing but still attributed it to Rousseau, based on the 1868 sales stamp. There are similar, generic huts painted by Rousseau during these years and this sheet may have been used as a reference when the artist was painting scenes with small huts dotting the landscape.
