الوصف: | 100 The purpose of study was to explore the effect of Readers’ Theater on English reading fluency and English learning motivation of the 7th grade students with lower-academic achievement (8 boys and 3 girls). The whole reader’s theater program lasted 5 weeks. Based on the pre-and-post-test research design, this study collected data of students’ oral reading scores, questionnaire responses and interview remarks. Their oral reading performance was examined with the instrument, Entire Text Method. Students’ reading motivation and perceptions of the reader’s theater task were elicited by pre-and post-study questionnaires. T-test was used to detect if there were differences in students’ motivation before and after the sudy. Students’ interview remarks were classified to present a clear picture of students’ learning. The results of study were as follows: 1. There was significant difference on English reading fluency test. Reader’s theater could improve students’ English reading fluency. 2. There was significant difference on English learning motivation scale. Reader’s theater could improve students’ English learning motivation. 3. Students showed positive learning attitudes on English and claimed that they’ve enjoyed more attitudes of the reader’s theater task. Based on the results, suggestions for Reader’s Theater teaching for students with lower-academic achievement in the junior high schools and further studies are also provided. |
