The purpose of this study were to discuss of the sixth-graders’ learning interest in science and living technology field, and the relationship between demographic variables and learning interest. The participants were 440 sixth-graders in Chia-yi city, Chia-yi county, and Yun-lin county, Taiwan. After analyzing their diversity, correlation, and predictability of data, the results of this research were summarized as following: •In terms of the learning interest in science and living technology field, there were no significant difference between genders; But, samples were significant differences (p< .05) with different regions and textbooks. However, students in Chia-yi city and county have more interest than those in Yun-lin County; and A version textbooks users have more interest than others. •In terms of each learning interest sub-scale, students were no significant differences of genders and regions. But, there were significant difference (p< .05) with different textbooks, that is, A version textbooks users have more interest than B version textbooks users in each of the five sub-scales; and A textbooks users have more interest than C textbooks users only in physics and chemistry sub-scales. •The genders and the achievement in science have no significant correlation with their learning interest. Nevertheless, the region variable and the materials variable have significant correlations with students’ learning interest. •The variance of region variable could explain 2.1% variance of the sixth-grade students’ learning interest in science and living technology field.
