The purpose of this study was to understand the health and physical education learning area teachers’ perceptions of the role, teaching belief, and teaching effectiveness for the 1-9 Curriculum In Taipei City Junior High School. Literature analyzing and questionnaire survey were used in this study. There were 209 Health and Physical Education teachers from 31 public junior high schools in Taipei City to join this study. The tool of this study was the self-designed questionnaire. All 259 questionnaires were send out, and 209 effective questionnaires were got back. The return rate was 80.69%.. Our study got the following results: 1. Aspect of teachers’ perceptions of the role Teachers’ perceptions of the role for 1-9 Curriculum was over the average. However, their self- consciousness varied due to the following factors: gender, teaching subject, serving as leader of Health and Physical Education Learning Area and school location. 2. Aspect of teachers’ teaching belief Teachers’ teaching belief for 1-9 Curriculum was over the average. However, their teaching belief varied due to the following factors: gender, the situation of the giving lesion (major or minor lesions), professional background, and teaching subject. 3. Aspect of teachers’ teaching effectiveness Teachers’ teaching effectiveness for 1-9 Curriculum was over the average. However, their teaching effectiveness varied due to the following factors: gender, the situation of the giving lesion (major or minor lesions), professional background, and teaching subject. 4. There were significant positive relationship between teachers’ perceptions of the role, teaching belief, and teaching effectiveness. 5. Teachers’ teaching effectiveness could be predicted by teachers’ self- consciousness and teaching belief. Finally, based on the findings of the research, several suggestions for educational administration, administration of school, teachers themselves and future practice and research were made.
