الوصف: | 91 The purpose of this study was to investigate the osseointegration of HA-coating implant in the critical-sized defect by impregnating osteoinductive and osteoconductive materials in one surgical procedure. Eight mongrel dogs, average weight 15kg, were used as experimental animals. A large bony defect ( 10 mm x 17 mm ) was created in a dog’s right side tibia, followed by placing a HA-coated implant and impregnating porous HA and dematerialize freeze-dried bone allograft ( DFDBA ). A cavity the same size at the corresponding site of left tibia was impregnating a HA-coated implant and porous HA particles. Following a healing period of 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks, the specimens were retrieved and prepared by procedures for scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In the experimental group, a well-arranged cancellous bone structure was found formed around the implant. Numerous osteoblast-like cells were noted attached on the surface of HA particles at two week. Woven bone apposed within porosities of porous HA particles and connected the dental implant with HA particles at four week. At the 12-week specimen Haversian’s system was formed at the middle third and bottom third of the dental implant. In contrast to this, spongy-like bone was formed at the corresponding site in control group at 12 weeks. At twenty-four week, an osseointegration took place around the implants in both groups. The bone formed in experimental group showed a dense compact bone structure, however, in control group a spongy bone structure formed around the implant. By investigating osseointegration of the implants and structure of newly-formed bone between the experimental group and the control group with scanning electron microscopy, this study indicated that the impregnation of an implant with the alloplastic grafts in a multiple wall of large defect site at the same time was applicable. |
