الوصف: | 91 One of the most important elements in office environment design stands for office furniture. Not merely has office furniture the value in constructing virtual space and tactfully create movement flexibility, its style satisfies to deliver style language and functional demands for the entire space. Thus, interior designers have great range of freedom in space planning and arrangement by employing furniture as medium in the space. Corresponded to the research of this study, one may find that office furniture product lines are comprehensive and extensive. Based on their functionality, office furniture may be divided into ten categories. Whether the product is imported or domestically made, the usual marketing approach is cataloguing standardized products. Though product standardization may stand in favor of economizing and production efficiency, it is incompetent to satisfy the demand for multidimensional office environment. Based on the interactivity between furniture and environment, providing “customized” product will greatly expand designers’ freedom in creativity. Meanwhile, implementing research study may further strengthen its value of “customized” product in terms of market approach. “Customized” product is to satisfy customers’ need in personalizing, functionality, and differentiation. The satisfaction customer granted from the product will prolong the business relationship. Therefore, providing customized product and service will help a business to reinforce product’s added value and build market compatibility. Through questionnaire/interviews analysis conducted with designers, “customization” in product indeed has its market demand and value. The characteristic of development of “customized” product emphasis on immediate response and transitional flexibility to changes, which are not applicable to usual new product development and progress. Thus, office furniture business should consider the demand in “customized” product as an opportunity for special new product development. Referring to information of customer demand, marketing point of view, and actual practice in developing “customized” product, etc., “customized” product may be defined as “new and improved customized product”. 1. Classification of treatment for product demand and developing process - Systemized information on customer demand and classification of the four fundamental elements in product construction help to explain the correlation. Functional demand of product is defined as “high-intensity customization”, which is developed upon structural transformation; where as visual demand of product is defined as “low-intensity customization”, which is developed upon appearance transformation. Applying such systemized classification and definition along with product complexity as reference to program appropriate treatment will increase efficiency in executing product development. 2.“New and improved customized product” as developmental core - The optimal model in developing “new and improved customized product” is to choose one particular “fundamental product” as basic structure for product improvement or extension, so that the developmental process will transit from horizontal extension to vertical. Placing product’s fundamental structure as center of development while different designers execute design work concurrently will shorten product development period and increase parts adaptability for common use. |
