A cascade Diels-Alder reaction coupled with an oxidative aromatization reaction was developed and applied to a chiral 2-pyrone for the synthesis of the relevant chiral synthon/chiral auxiliary (-)-cis-aminoindan-2-ol. Chirality and optical purity were provided by the privileged chiron 7,3-LXF. |
