| الوصف: | Elitism in theatre has been strongly connected to the phenomenon of celebrities that was introduced in Greek theatre during the 19th century by two protagonists, Aikaterini Veroni and Evangelia Paraskevopoulou. In my intervention I underline the different sectors of predominance of celebrities in which the two actresses had excelled. These are the employment of women, the adoption of a new dramatic style, the enrichment of repertoire, the influence on the audience. I also examine the main reasons that provoked the formation of the phenomenon in Greek theatre and I make some conclusions on the creation of an elite in theatre. In this context is discussed a series of questions set by the intellectuals and Greek society in fin de siècle. |
