The pollution caused by the use of fossil fuels for the production of mechanical or electrical energy is one of the most important environmental issues nowadays. In this respect, biofuels represent a viable source of energy. Bioethanol as a renewable energy source is derived from organic material of plant origin, so-called biomass, thus reducing environmental pollution.
