| الوصف: | Background: Ovarian tumors are often found with non-specific symptoms. Approximately 24% of ovarian tumors occurring in premenopausal women ages are malignant, and in postmenopausal women reaches 60%. RMI, consisting of menopausal status, serum CA 125 levels, and ultrasound is used to detect malignant ovarian tumors. RMI 4 is RMI 3 plus the size of the tumor, and the cutoff point used is 450. Objective: To compare RMI 4 and 3 as diagnostic tests for ovarian malignancy. Methods: This study is an observational study design. The study population was patients with ovarian tumors in Gynecology-Oncology Clinic at Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta within the period from January 1st, 2010 to December 31th, 2010. All patients with ovarian tumors who have been done ultrasound, CA-125 examination, and laparotomy are included in the study. Results: A hundred cases meet the above criteria. RMI 3 shows sensitivity 80.6%, specificity 66.6%, positive predictive value 83.1% and negative predictive value 62.9%. Those for RMI 4 are 84.8 %, 75.8%, 87.7%, and 71.4% respectively. The area of ROC curve for RMI 4 is wider compared with the RMI 3, signifying that the used of RMI 4 is more accurate than RMI 3. Conclusion: the used of RMI 4 is more accurate than RMI 3 to diagnose ovarian malignancy |
