الوصف: – Earthen dam is the kind of local materials, suitable for many types of backgrounds, easy to adapt to the change of volume; easy to implement and easy to build just by knowing the process and strict quality management organization. Recently, in the analysis of stability of earthen dams, we can use one of two different calculation methods: the first is by assuming slip surface, then determining it for smallest stability coefficient; the second is based on the application of finite element method in geotechnical engineering to analyze the stress - strain state of the soil environment, which helps to find stability coefficient. This paper focuses on comparing the two calculation methods outlined by Geoslope and Plaxis softwares The paper also put forwards a number of recommendations applicable to the problem of stability of earthen dams.
