| الوصف: | The main purpose of this paper is to analyze how the newspaper called Ultima Hora (UH) built and publicized one idea about Getúlio Vargas’s suicide, when he was the president of Brazil in 1954, emphasizing the photos published on its pages, both on the day of the suicide and on the days that followed his death. We hypothesize that UH (that had already used the image as an active and quite significant language in its previous editions) worked with this resource to highlight its point of view on the politician’s disappearance, extolling his work and seeking to confirm his charisma and his importance for Brazilian Politics. ; O artigo tem como objetivo analisar como o jornal Ultima Hora (UH) construiu e divulgou a morte de Getúlio Vargas, então presidente do Brasil, em 1954, com ênfase nas fotos publicadas em suas páginas, tanto no dia do suicídio como nos dias conseguintes. A ideia aqui desenvolvida é a de que a UH, que já utilizava a imagem como uma linguagem ativa e bastante significativa em suas edições, trabalhou com esse recurso para enfatizar seu ponto de vista sobre o desaparecimento do político, enaltecendo seu trabalho e buscando confirmar seu carisma e sua importância para a política brasileira. |
