| الوصف: | Purpose: The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of various methods and aspects for the evaluation of library spaces and equipment. Using a case study of the Ajdovščina Central Library, we aim to demonstrate their potential, strengths, and limitations. Methodology/approach: For the purposes of the research, we conducted interviews with the professional workers in the library, an expert study for assessing the compliance of library spaces and equipment with standards and recommendations, and a user survey. Results: Through our research and an analysis of previous studies, we found that when evaluating library spaces, we can consider aspects related to library layout and facilities, equipment, climate and environmental aspects, as well as aspects related to accessibility for users with disabilities. While various assessment methods can be employed, it is advisable to use a combination of methods, as a single method may not necessarily provide the most accurate overall picture. Research limitations: The study was conducted in a single Slovenian public library, and not all possible methods were tested. Originality/practical implications: The article identifies a a set of aspects and methods for evaluation of library spaces, which can serve public libraries in selecting and designing their facilities and spaces.
