Education is a fundamental right; however, for individuals with disabilities, access to education has historically been marked by numerous challenges, as processes of inclusion in schools challenge educational systems at every level. In this context, this qualitative and exploratory study, grounded in the educational hermeneutics method, aims to analyze the implications of the Covid-19 pandemic on Brazilian Special Education, especially in the post-pandemic scenario. The results demonstrate an exacerbation of socio-economic vulnerabilities, whose consequences on the “new normal” are even worse for special education, as the effects caused by social isolation, lack of adequate information for teachers, and the difficulties of access to technology and multiprofessional services were detrimental and led to setbacks. It is thus concluded that there is a need to definitively break with the traditional way in which public policies have been generally formulated and, especially, executed. This is necessary to ensure that the rights guaranteed by national legal frameworks reach every person effectively, thereby consolidating and implementing the National Policy on Special Education from The Perspective of Inclusive Education. |
