الوصف: International audience ; Extracellular vesicles (EVs) from both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells have been characterized over decades and present many biological properties. Since it has been shown that mycobacterial extracellular vesicles (MEVs) of M. ulcerans contain the macrolide toxin mycolactone, MEVs are known to be associated with the pathogenesis of mycobacteria. This chapter describes a method for purifying and characterizing vesicles from in vitro cultures of M. ulcerans. We also describe how purified vesicles can be used in cellular tests, to determine their role in the pathophysiology of M. ulcerans infection.
