This paper presents the ideas and conceptions of the nomads of northern central Mexico that were represented in the cartography of the sixteenth century, its subsequent extension into the nineteenth century and the permanence of an imaginary construction that has permeated the academic discourse in several anthropological disciplines. We argue that it is important to stop qualifying under the same terms that were imposed to define the cultural developments of the septentrion. We propose, from a historical perspective, the revision of the meanings of the nomad from the cartography of the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries and its conceptual integration in the development of the archaeology of northern Mexico, which has assumed divergent ideas in the pre-Hispanic cultural development. ; En este trabajo se exponen las ideas y concepciones de los nómadas del Centro Norte de México que se representaron en la cartografía del siglo XVI, su posterior prolongación hacia el siglo XIX y de la permanencia de una construcción imaginaria, inmersa en el discurso académico en varias de las disciplinas antropológicas. Exponemos la importancia de dejar de calificar bajo los mismos términos impuestos para definir los desarrollos culturales del septentrión. Planteamos, desde una perspectiva histórica, la revisión de las significaciones del nómada desde la cartografía de los siglos XVI a XVIII y su integración conceptual en el desarrollo de la arqueología del Norte de México, la cual ha asumido ideas divergentes en el desarrollo cultural prehispánico. |
