| الوصف: | By 2050, it is expected that majority of the world’s population will be living in cities. With urbanization becoming an inevitable trend, numerous stakeholders are increasingly relying on ‘smart-city’ solutions as the primary avenue in solving urbanization-related challenges. We argue that while the smart-city solutions can be successful if implemented with a careful consideration, all too often the concept ‘smart city’ itself has suffered the problem of conceptual stretching and lack of fixed definition. Here, we would like to propose that the successful implementation of a smart city requires the involvement of not only smart technologies, but also human capital (citizens, scientists, engineers, government leaders), social capital (nurturing a culture of trust), as well as entrepreneurial capital (ability to take risks). |
