DeepFrac is a fully coupled hydraulic fracturing simulator, which is capable of simulating the propagation of a single or multiple hydraulic fractures in impermeable rock matrix under the framework of linear elastic fracture mechanics. The simulator uses the dual boundary element method to simulate the rock deformation and fracture propagation, while the fluid flow inside the fracture channel is calculated by finite volume method. The dual boundary element method eliminates the matrix singularity by applying a pair of integral equations, which consist of the displacement integral equation applied to one of the crack surfaces and the traction integral equation applied to the other. The governing equation is solved simultaneously, and an iterative relaxation method is used to achieve fast convergence. This simulator can solve the propagation of a single and multiple hydraulic fractures. |
