Agility is the ability of a person in changing direction quickly and effectively when moving or running. Agility is influenced by weight where excessive weight will directly reduce agility. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of lower extremity muscle strength exercises with modification games on the agility of girls aged 8 to 12 years with an overweight body mass index. The design of this study uses Pre-Experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test. The free variables in this study were muscle strength exercises with game modification and variable bound was agility.Sample determination uses inclusion, exclusion and drop out criteria. The research was conducted for 4 weeks. The average value of agility before muscle strength training with modified games is 17,35 seconds which indicates agility in the category of less, while the average value of agility after muscle strength exercises with modified games is 15 seconds which indicates agility in the moderate category. Difference of agility increase by 13,54%. Analyzed with paired t-test with the result of p value is 0,000 where the value of p<0,05 then the test result is significant. The test results also mean a change in agility after being given muscle strength exercises with modified games in girls with an overweight body mass index. Theconclusion is that lower extremity muscle strength exercises with modified games can increase the agility of girls aged 8-12 years with an overweightbody mass index. |
