Forældres og især mødres situation, position og identitet påvirkes og forandres når deres børn diagnosticeres med en funktionsnedsættelse. De seneste års stigning i antal børn som udredes og klassificeres med en (neuro)psykiatrisk diagnose gør det relevant også at interessere sig for disse børns forældres situation. Med udgangspunkt i konkrete eksempler viser jeg hvordan processer af stigmatisering, problematisering og udskamning spiller en rolle i nogle af disse mødres hverdagsliv og dermed potentielt fratager dem muligheden for at handle og forstå sig selv som helt almindelige mødre. I hvert fald hvis de samtidig forsøger at forholde sig til de anderledes vilkår som deres børns diagnoser skaber. ; The situations, positions, and identities of parents, particularly mothers, are affected and change when their children are diagnosed with an impairment. The increase in the number of children given a (neuro)psychiatric diagnosis makes the situation of these children’s parents a relevant topic of study. Based on specific examples, I show how processes of stigmati- sation, problematisation and shaming play an important role in the everyday lives of some of these mothers. This can potentially prevent them from seeing themselves and acting as ordinary mothers – at least when attempting to adjust to and respond to the new and nontypical conditions resulting from their child’s diagnosis. |
