الوصف: Brazil is one of the largest agricultural producers in the world, with a vast diversity of crops, including cassava. The production of the root exceeded 18 million tons in 2021, therefore, the present work aims to value the cassava peel through conventional and catalytic pyrolysis for the production of chemical products and biofuels, as a way to minimize the environmental impacts caused by its disposal. incorrect. For this, analyzes were carried out to evaluate the energy potential of the cassava peel, physical-chemical characterizations (moisture content, ash, volatiles, fixed carbon, apparent density, among others), thermogravimetric analysis and analytical flash pyrolysis in a micro pyrolyzer interfaced with gas chromatography (Py-GC/MS) where the generated vapors were conducted to a catalyst bed with zeolite HZSM-5. The results showed that cassava peel has a high volatile content (86.4%), low ash content (3.17%), moderate calorific value (15 MJ.kg-1) in addition to a predominantly starchy composition, which resulted in a high content of oxygenated compounds, such as organic acids and furans, in the conventional pyrolysis products. However, the main oxygenated compounds were deoxygenated using the HZSM-5 catalyst at 300 °C and converted into monoaromatics (50%) such as benzene, toluene, xylene and isopropylbenzene and short chain organic acid compounds such as acetic acid (29%). The catalytic reforming of pyrolysis products proved to be an efficient process for the valorization of cassava peel and that can result in a bio-oil with good energy characteristics and a source of organic compounds with several applications in the chemical industry of solvents, additives, lubricants, biofuels and bioproducts. ; O Brasil é um dos maiores produtores agrícolas do mundo, com uma vasta diversidade de culturas, entre elas a mandioca.
