La campana del reloj de la Catedral de Las Palmas tuvo como principal y única misión emitir las correspondientes señales acústicas que anunciaban el paso de las horas. Junto con estas, sus toques también sirvieron para manifestar de manera sonora los buenos sucesos o noticias de la propia iglesia canaria, especialmente la promoción de sus prelados y dignidades eclesiásticas. Dichos sonidos se lograban "echando" o "soltando" las pesas del reloj, dando lugar a que su campana sonase de manera continua, acompañando con ello a los repiques festivos del resto de campanas del templo catedralicio, ejecutados por el campanero. The main and only mission of the clock bell of the Cathedral of Las Palmas was to emit the corresponding acoustic signals that announced the passing of the hours. Along with these, also served to soundly manifest the good events or news of the Canarian church itself, especially the promotion of its prelates and ecclesiastical dignities. These sounds were achieved by "throwing" or "releasing" the weights of the clock, causing its bell to ring continuously, thereby accompanying the festive ringing of the rest of the bells of the cathedral temple, played by the bell ringer. |
