The inclusion of perceptions and interests of small private owners is essential to ensure the long-term success of nature conservation strategies. However, in Chile these dimensions are not usually incorporated into the discussion of public policies and have been incipiently addressed in the local academic literature. Through a mixed methodology, which included cartographic analysis, perception surveys, and interviews with key owners and stakeholders, it was analysed how landowners perceive the development of conservation measures and how willing they are to implement them in two localities within the Coastal Mountain range of the Los Rios Region. This is an area of high ecological value that is home to endangered species, such as the Mehuin Frog, as well as being a territory threatened by the advance of the forest industry and other activities. The results show that the owners have differing views on the conservation of nature. Common sense and general concepts of forest conservation unite the visions. Likewise, the majority would tend to join conservation strategies, but for this they want economic rewards from the state, considering that the productive activities carried out in the area are mainly subsistence. This implies the need to consider these aspects when developing small-scale conservation plans, which also make it possible to contribute to the local economic development of the communities involved. ; La inclusión de percepciones e intereses de pequeños propietarios privados es fundamental para garantizar a largo plazo el éxito de estrategias de conservación de la naturaleza.
