Tra questi, Pier Damiani, a cui è affidata una invettiva rivolta al clero degenere, lontano oramai dai princípi di purezza e rigore che si evincono dalla biografia del santo. Once in the Heaven of Saturn, Dante will experience a series of “sensorial defeats” for the events occurring at the threshold of the golden ladder, where the contemplating souls move as crows in order to participate in the eternity of God. Among these is Pier Damiani, who makes an invective against the clergy degenerate and far away from the principles of purity and rigor on which the biography of the saint is based. |
