José Val del Omar dedicated his life to creating a new audiovisual language with which to reach the viewers' instinct and lift them towards divinity. Although studies on the filmmaker have always focused on the cinematographic media and his Tríptico elemental de España, this article considers for the first time, the importance television also had in developing his ascetic-mystical system. Here, his theoretical-linguistic assumptions about this new language, experiments, tests, and articulations are analyzed. For this, the texts of Val del Omar in the Documentación del Museo Reina Sofía and texts by theoreticians of the mass media such as Marshall Mcluhan or Christian Metz have been used. The article's conclusions feature how important television could have been for the filmmaker in case he had been given financial support from the government. ; José Val del Omar (Granada, 1904- Madrid, 1982) dedicó su vida a crear un nuevo lenguaje audiovisual con el que llegar al instinto del espectador y alzarlo hacia la divinidad. Si bien los estudios sobre el cineasta granadino han girado siempre en torno al medio cinematográfico y su Tríptico elemental de España en este artículo se considera por primera vez la importancia que también tuvo en el desarrollo de su sistema ascético-místico el popular medio televisivo. Aquí se analizan sus supuestos teórico-lingüísticos sobre este nuevo lenguaje, sus experimentos, sus pruebas y sus articulaciones. Para la investigación se han consultado los textos manuscritos de Val del Omar en el Centro de Documentación del Museo Reina Sofía y textos de grandes teóricos de los medios de comunicación de masas como Marshall Mcluhan o Christian Metz, alcanzando la conclusión de la gran importancia que este medio podría haber tenido para cineasta en el caso de haber recibido ayuda económica gubernamental para desarrollar sus teorías domestico-televisivas. |
