| الوصف: | The Latin Bible (especially the oldest Latin translation, or Vetus Latina) plays a crucial role in the textual criticism of the Septuagint. It is an old and faithful translation from the Septuagint, providing key information for the knowledge of lost stages of the Greek Bible and with a direct link to the oldest Hebrew tradition in Qumran manuscripts. The Latin Bible is not only a witness for stages of the Old Greek Bible that are very close to the original translation but also preserves traces of the evolution of the Greek Bible in a way that sometimes shows a richer and broader textual panorama not always preserved in the Greek manuscript tradition. The Vetus Latina thus enables researchers to follow the traces of the main Greek revisions undertaken from pre-Christian times until the fifth century. ; Peer reviewed |
