الوصف: | Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the parameters for the design and construction of school libraries. Furthermore, we seek to verify and analyze school libraries in Brazil and Portugal. Methodology: The methodology used in the present study has a quali-descriptive and exploratory nature, a literature review and also used international guidelines and standards/guidelines from organizations such as the American Association of School Librarians, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, International Association of School Librarianship, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and School Libraries Network. The reality of school libraries in Brazil includes their absence in most Brazilian schools. Data from the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira indicate that most Brazilian schools do not have libraries. Result: The results reveal that many Brazilian schools, in addition to not having school libraries, do not hire trained librarians, as the legislation requires that libraries of the most varied types and formats be managed, organized, information processing and research guidance to the reader be carried out by professionals with university training in Librarianship, and library attendants are required to have a library technician course. Conclusion: We came to the conclusion that there has been progress in relation to the number of school libraries, but it is still below the ideal basics, poor academic preparation and the absence of either the school library and/or the school librarian is still prevalent in a large part of the education system. basic education. ; Objetivo: El objetivo de este estudio es investigar los parámetros para el diseño y construcción de bibliotecas escolares.
