| الوصف: | The object of the master's work is the buildings of synagogues, in particular, the buildings of inactive synagogues in the Vitebsk region. The main purpose of the research is to form a methodological basis for developing optimal ways of representing and using the material heritage of the Jews of Belarus, using the example of the architectural heritage presented by synagogues. The main tasks of the research: to study the historical-cultural, urbanistic, art history and ethno-confessional context of the formation of the Jewish heritage in Belarus on the example of synagogues; to analyze the current socio-cultural situation, architectural and urban planning features that determine the historical and cultural qualities of the synagogues-objects of research; based on the studied context and modern features, identify the most promising strategy for introducing buildings of former synagogues into the socio-cultural turnover. Using such methods as analysis of historical data, modern practices and existing initiatives in Belarus, the method of experiment, which consists in organizing an initiative to preserve the former synagogue in Vitebsk, it was concluded that synagogue buildings can only be preserved with an integrated approach. An integrated approach includes the presence of interested legal entities or individuals, the general public, activists and specialists in the preservation of the buildings of the former synagogues. A constant dialogue with the city administration and active involvement of all interested parties is expected. While working with heritage sites, consider the historical and cultural context that can be used in the work with the local community and the wider public, implementing cultural and educational projects. At the same time, it is necessary to pay particular attention to the issue of understanding the Jewish heritage as Belarusian-Jewish, that is, our own.
