The study examineseducators’self-assessment of theirdigital competence inPublic Vocational Training Institutes(PVTI)of Atticaregionin Greece, according to theEuropeanDigital Competence Framework for Educators (DigCompEdu).Two hundred twentyadulteducatorsfromPVTIof AtticacompletedtheDigCompEduCheckInself-assessment questionnaire, which was translated into Greek and adapted to the field of adult education.Findings indicated thatthe majority ofthe survey participants, based on their statements,hada medium to low level of digital competence.Gender, age, teaching experience andeducationallevel were not found to be related toeducators’level of digital competence.However, there was a statistically significant correlation betweeneducators’level of digital competenceand theirfieldof expertiseandattitudes regarding the use of digital technology in adult education.This research is the first attempt tostudythe digital competence of adult educators according to theDigCompEduframework in Greece, thus enriching the relevant available research data at a European level. |
