The Wayuu Law of Origin is an ancestral normative system that governs the life of the community and its relationship with nature, spirituality and social norms. According to this law, the Wayuu know that their origin comes from the teachings of their ancestors, who passed on respect for the land, water, wind and animals. This law establishes guidelines for living together, protecting the territory and respecting the elders and the community. The social structure and the Wayuu Law of Origin complement each other to ensure the preservation of culture, values and balance within the Wayuu community, always in harmony with their environment and traditions, maintaining that the woman is the one who has inherited the virtue of giving continuity to the e’irukuu, the ancestral knowledge, and sharing it with the rest of the community members. However, Wayuu life has been deeply affected by knowledge and practices, foreign to their cosmogony, derived from foreign entities that are unknown to them. This state of affairs requires changes in which the binding community participation of the Wayuu community is fundamental. ; La Ley de Origen Wayuu es un sistema normativo ancestral que rige la vida de la comunidad y su relación con la naturaleza, la espiritualidad y las normas sociales. Según esta ley, los Wayuu saben que su origen proviene de las enseñanzas de sus ancestros, quienes les transmitieron el respeto por la tierra, el agua, el viento y los animales. Esta ley establece pautas para la convivencia, la protección del territorio y el respeto por los mayores y la comunidad. La estructura social y la Ley de Origen Wayuu se complementan para garantizar la preservación de la cultura, los valores y el equilibrio en la comunidad Wayuu, siempre en armonía con su entorno y tradiciones, siendo la mujer quien ha heredado la virtud de darles continuidad a las e´irukuu (clanes maternos) al igual que a los saberes ancestrales y los comparte con el resto de integrantes de la comunidad.
