| الوصف: | This two-volume monograph examines forms of literary censorship from the mid-18th century, when censorship started to be concentrated in the hands of the Enlightenment, until the advent of the internet in the early 21st century. Each of the eight chronological sections of the book both presents a general summary of the changing face and form of state censorship during the period in question and offers a set of case studies which show the operation of literary censorship in detail with regard to particular subjects. The authors do not limit their attention to canonized literary work, but also take into account popular literature, period journalism and German-language texts. |
