الوصف: In this thesis the carbide structures and sensitization of the ferritic stainless steel EN 1.4016 with chromium content of 17 wt-% were studied. The carbide structures and sensitization resulting from the batch annealing-and the line annealing process and two different hot rolling procedures used in the line annealing production line (the Full-Tandem-and the Steckel-Tandem procedures) were investigated. Also the effect of the occasionally occurring process delays was studied for different durations at 800 °C, 850 °C and 900 °C. SEM-and TEM-imaging showed that the carbides were mostly spherical or nodular by shape and they situated, as expected, mainly on the grain boundaries, depending on the annealing temperature (the resulting undercooling), however, this had no correlation to the measured degree of sensitization. The DL-EPR tests showed, that the degree of sensitization did not vary much between the batch annealed (the reference) and the best line annealed products. The comparison between the hot rolling procedures did not either yield any clear difference. The DL-EPR results proved that only one of the line annealing routes was successful in decreasing the occurred sensitization by recrystallization. In all other cases, the line annealing process increased, even doubled, the degree of sensitization. This was mostly, however, removed during the final stages of the manufacturing process. ; Tässä opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin ferriittisessä ruostumattomassa teräksessä EN 1.4016 syntyviä karbidirakenteita ja esiintyvää herkistymistä valmistusprosessin seurauksena. EN 1.4016 sisältää kromia noin 17 p-% verran. Eri tuotanto prosessien (kupu-uuni hehkutus reitin ja linja hehkutus reittien) samoin kuin kahden eri kuumavalssaus prosessin (Full-Tandem- ja Steckel-Tandem prosessien) seurauksena syntynyttä herkistymistä ja muodostuneita karbidirakenteita tutkittiin DLEPR testillä ja tietyiltä osin SEM:llä ja TEM:llä.
