| الوصف: | The aging population presents significant challenges in the configuration of indoor spaces that adequately respond to the needs of older adults. This study focuses on the evaluation of care centers for this population in Cuenca, Ecuador, through the detailed analysis of five facilities. Essential criteria such as accessibility, materiality and spatial comfort were identified. Intervention in these spaces should aim to achieve excellence in both design and functionality, ensuring environments that comprehensively meet the physical, psychological and social needs of older adults. This scientific article proposes concrete guidelines for the improvement of the quality of life and safety of this population, underlining the importance of a social commitment towards an active and healthy old age. The research reflects a holistic and grounded approach to the need to provide adapted environments that foster the well-being and autonomy of older adults, thus contributing to the development of interior design policies and practices that promote inclusion and dignity in aging. ; El envejecimiento de la población presenta desafíos significativos en la configuración de espacios interiores que respondan, adecuadamente, a las necesidades del adulto mayor. Este estudio se encauza en la evaluación de centros de atención para esta población en Cuenca-Ecuador, mediante el análisis detallado de cinco establecimientos. Se identificaron criterios esenciales como: accesibilidad, materialidad utilizada y el confort espacial. La intervención en estos espacios aspira alcanzar la excelencia, tanto en diseño como en funcionalidad, asegurando ambientes que satisfagan, de manera integral, necesidades físicas, psicológicas y sociales del adulto mayor.
