| الوصف: | The Brassicaceae family consists of cosmopolitan plants important for human food and which generates jobs and income for farmers. However, the crop is seriously affected by the pest insect commonly known as the diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella), (Linnaeus 1758) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae), being the main pest of the crop and which presents serious problems of resistance to chemicals. The objective of this work was to test concentrations of pyroligneous extract in plutella xylostella caterpillars, aiming at alternative control. The experiment was carried out in the Entomology Laboratory of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná Campus Pato Branco and conducted in a Fully Completely Randomized Design (CRD), five repetitions were performed to evaluate oviposition, and four repetitions to evaluate larval mortality. The concentrations used were 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1%. Distilled water was used as a control. Leaf discs of cabbage were immersed in these concentrations and subsequently randomly distributed in a cage to evaluate the oviposition of P. xylostella for five days. The mean daily oviposition of insects was evaluated. To evaluate larval mortality, pupal number and viability, five 2nd instar caterpillars were fed with cabbage discs exposed to the same doses of pyrorolenous liqueur for six days. The pyrorolenous extract caused a deterrent effect on the oviposition of P. xylostella, insecticide effect on caterpillars, and antibiosis effect. ; A família Brassicaceae é constituída por plantas cosmopolitas importantes para a alimentação humana e que gera empregos e renda para os agricultores.
