الوصف: | International audience ; The Great Green Wall, a project initially developed to restore degraded ecosystems in the Sahel, includes a major reforestation component. This logically led OHMi ecologists to conduct studies on the ecological benefits of these restoration actions. These studies bear the hallmark of biodiversity assessment, as an expression of biological diversity, and have identified 32 species of woody plants, 97 species of herbaceous plants, 13 species of large wild mammals, 17 species of rodents, 11 species of reptiles, 217 species of birds, and ongoing analyses demonstrate the existence of more than 500 morpho-species of flowers-visiting insectsFollowing and in parallel with this taxonomic description of biodiversity, a chain of scientific studies on the evolution of biodiversity was progressively set up. At first, the notion of biodiversity encouraged ecologists and ethnobotanists to dialogue. Indeed, the practices linked to ligneous and/or herbaceous plants, dependent on the availability of certain local species, had in some cases disappeared. This "loss" of biodiversity and practices also challenged anthropologists working on the memory of the environment, encouraging them to collaborate with ecologists and ethnobotanists to show how this biodiversity, and its evolution, are perceived by the populations. Conceived and operationalized as an "umbrella" concept, flexible in terms of discipline, biodiversity appears to be a particularly heuristic frontier object within the OHMi Téssékéré, allowing actors with different epistemic cultures to dialogue and, beyond that, to build and implement common projects around a shared object. |
