In this article, the authors conduct a brief analysis of the activities of the Ombudsman and his team to prevent torture in the period 2019-2020.The purpose of the publication is to familiarize the participants of the thematic conference, as well as other actors about the Ombudsman’s mandate regarding the Prevention of torture in the Republic of Moldova. Also, the authors present a reflection on the situation of human rights in places of deprivation of liberty, the concerns of the Ombudsman’s office, as well as a list of recommendations submitted to the authorities in order to improve the situation in this area. The conclusions of the article are part of the Annual Report of the Ombudsman presented in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. |
