| الوصف: | Leymus and Elymus species indigenous to Japan show high adaptation to the humid climate that markedly differs from the center of origin of wheat and berley. They are expected to be useful as genetic resources for wheat and barley breeding. A field survey already conducted throughout Chugoku district in 1992 and it was proceeded to Hokuriku. Collection of Leymus and Elymus species as breeding materials for stress tolerance in Hokuriku distric of Japan was carried out from September 13 to 15, 1993. A total of 25 springs of Leymus mollis (Trin.) Pilger (= Tenkigusa), each three springs of Elymus racemifer (Steud.) Tsvel. (= Ao-kamojigusa) and E. tsukushiensis Honda var. trasiens (Hack.) Osada comb. nov. (= Kamojigusa) and two springs of Ammophila breviligulata (= American beachgrass) were collected at 18 sites. These springs of perennial grass are propagated, evaluated and preserved. |
