| الوصف: | “Few share Dakota” as Joseph Butwin has aptly put it. But two who do share North Dakota are Thomas McGrath and Larry Woiwode. In this recollection, Woiwode locates shared ground between the two writers, while also illuminating differences of opinion and belief, especially on the subject of faith. A tribute to a “dear and memorable man,” this pastiche of flash-fiction-type scenes etches a portrait of McGrath as Dakota’s tolerant rebel, while exploring themes of a familial, political, and literary nature. ; “Ils sont peu à se partager le Dakota” selon la belle formule de Joseph Butwin. Mais Thomas McGrath et Larry Woiwode font partie de ce petit nombre. Dans ce témoignage, Woiwode précise ce qui le rapprochait de McGrath mais aussi ce qui le séparait de lui, notamment sur le plan de la foi religieuse. Cette suite de scènes très brèves où McGrath apparaît comme le révolté aux idées larges de son Dakota natal, se veut un hommage à “un homme très cher et inoubliable.” Il y est aussi question de famille, de politique et de littérature. |
