In the area of Mocache, there are a large number of families that depend on the maize crop for sustenance in their homes, however they have had problems in their commercialization, reason why it is necessary to study the value chain in that area To promote the development of the corn sector. For the above, the present investigation was carried out in order to establish the value chain of the production of hard corn in the canton Mocache, province of Los Ríos. For the fulfillment of the objectives, the survey was applied to 25 maize producers, 16 corn marketing companies, the National Storage Unit, and 8 comisariatos that sell maize in the Mocache canton. As main objectives, it was possible to verify that in the value chain of maize in the Mocache canton, the main internal factors that intervene in the same are the farmers dedicated to the production of maize, the resources used for the maize production process, and As the institutions immersed in it providing technical advice in general. MAGAP is the main institution related to this crop in the study area, since it provides advice to 64.0% of the farmers surveyed. The financial institutions, which provide loans are BanEcuador, private banks and credit unions, but 32.0% of the farmers sow using their own funds. The main external factors in the maize value chain in the Mocache canton are the maize marketers, the National Storage Unit and the commissaries that sell the maize. Farmers consider maize as one of the most important products for the local economy, so 60.0% would not replace them with any other type of crop, since it is a traditional crop of this canton.
