| الوصف: | The article considers methodological approaches to the study and analysis of the police officers’ professional competence formation in the prevention of juvenile delinquency. It is established that competence is a person’s ability to perform a certain type of activity. This activity is expressed through knowledge, understanding, skills, values and other personal qualities. It was found that professional competence provides an opportunity to become a competitive specialist who is in demand and can perform professional activities at a high level. In our understanding, the professional competence of a police officer is an integral set of personal and professional characteristics acquired in the process of professional training, reflecting the level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills aimed at carrying out professional activities. The article also highlights a number of methodological approaches, such as: systemic, personal, activity, which should be based on in the process of forming the professional competence of police officers to prevent juvenile delinquency. It is established that the system approach provides research of professional competence of the future police officer as a multifaceted concept of interconnected elements: goals, objectives, methodological approaches, principles, forms, methods, training technologies, results. The competency approach emphasizes the professional competence and importance of professional training, in the process of which cadets get acquainted with the basic requirements for preventive measures with minors. Preventive activities of the National Police include general prevention; prevention of special orientation, which aims to prevent the commission of certain types of offenses or their commission by certain minors; individual crime prevention.
