| الوصف: | During the Last Ten Years of Josip Slavenski's Life Interested to know which compositions by Serbian composers were performed in Belgrade from 1945 to 1955, and which by musical creators who, living in Belgrade, became an integral part of its music life, we shall analyze a complex period in the development of Serbian music. A number of composers did not change their music language, some of them adopted different compositional parameters, following the tradition, and there were some who embraced contemporary tendencies. It was a time when the first graduates in composition from the Music Academy entered the city's music life. Music critics passed their judgments on the performed works, trying to point out which role models the composers ought to follow in their work. Josip Slavenski was one of those composers who continued to create in the tried and tested manner, which was pretty much the only way they could compose. Unlike the interwar period, during which their works received praise as well as harsh criticism, in the last ten years of his life he was regarded as a remarkable, original figure, valued as one of our most eminent composers. He was among those musicians whose works received very few critical comments, while many others were subjected to sharp criticism. |
