الوصف: Occupational health is a subject examined by many disciplines. Ergonomics addresses this theme by proposing an approach based mainly on the possibility for the worker to build their own margins for maneuver. These margins for maneuver help construct the balance between the power to act, the power to think and the power to debate, generators of the development of health at work. Work psychology, especially the clinic of activity, supports this approach with a particular focus on the power to act. The capabilities approach, proposed by Sen, and borrowed from economics, is used in this research to investigate the construction and development of occupational health for hospital staff, especially nurses. Few studies in ergonomics have been proposed on the usefulness and effectiveness of this approach for understanding health. Based on this observation, this research proposes to discover the capabilities-based approach and to question its efficacy as an intervention tool on the issue of occupational health. The development and construction of health at work were both investigated using a field survey, by the tools of ergonomics and work psychology: interviews, observations and self-confrontations, and the results were analyzed using the capabilities approach. Two digestive surgery departments were selected for the field surveys, on the specific population of nurses (Infirmière Diplômée d’Etat, IDE). The field research consisted of observing the general activity of a morning and afternoon IDE and then conducting an interview explaining the results obtained. The in-depth job analysis went through video recordings of specific work situations. They were followed by simple self-confrontations then some videos were proposed to the work group for cross self-confrontations. Results showed that even if the capabilities approach did not offer operational investigative tools in the field, it allowed a thorough reading of the work activity. The development and construction of health at work would require the possibility of ...
