| الوصف: | L’Italie a connu, au cours de la Renaissance, un contexte économique et politique prospère, assise d’une activité artistique exceptionnelle. Celle-ci s’illustrait par une remarquable technicité dans de nombreux domaines : peinture, architecture… Dans ce contexte actif, la production de sculptures en terre cuite polychromées, parfois également glaçurées, témoigne de la diversité et de la richesse des savoir-faire.Leur analyse systématique au C2RMF, dans le cadre d’un programme mené conjointement avec le département des Sculptures du musée du Louvre depuis plusieurs années, a permis de mieux connaître les matériaux et les techniques de la polychromie et de la dorure utilisés par les artistes italiens, tout en mettant en lumière l’éclat des décors passés. ; The prosperous economic and political context in Italy during the Renaissance gave rise to exceptional artistic activity. This is illustrated by the remarkable technical virtuosity of Italians in several domains, including painting and architecture. Set against this backdrop, the production of polychrome – sometimes also glazed – terracotta sculpture attests to the wealth and diversity of their expertise.Over the years, the systematic analysis of these terracottas at C2RMF, conducted in collaboration with the Louvre’s Department of Sculpture, has provided a better understanding of polychromy and gilding techniques as well as the materials used by Italian artists and craftsmen, while highlighting the resplendence of their decorative designs. |
