En la década de 1660, el carmelita descalzo Giuseppe di Santa Maria viajaba a Goa (India) por segunda vez. En su relato de viaje da cuenta de la interpretación de una obra de Giacomo Carissimi en la basílica jesuítica del Bom Jesus durante la celebración de la festividad de San Ignacio de Loyola el 31 de julio de 1663. Igualmente nos informa de la actividad musical en los conventos franciscano y agustino y de la presencias de capillas musicales en otras iglesias en las que se tañían órganos, arpas, instrumentos de la familia del violín, etc. In the 1660s, the Discalced Carmelite Giuseppe di Santa Maria travelled to Goa (India) for the second time. In his chronicle of the trip, he gives an account of the performance of a work by Giacomo Carissimi in the Jesuit basilica of Bom Jesus during the celebration of the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola on 31 July 1663. It also informs us of the musical activity in the Franciscan and Augustinian convents and of the presence of musical chapels in other churches where organs, harps, instruments of the violin family, etc. were played. |
