الوصف: The paper discusses the role of formative assessment of knowledge in the educational process. The authors consider such form of assessment as computer testing. The objective of assessment is to determine the quality of the knowledge absorbed, the degree of compliance of the formed skills and abilities with the goals and objectives of training in a particular subject. An important component of effective testing is an objective analysis of the data obtained, which is based on a certain model for evaluating results. The optimal solution is to apply modern Item Response Theory (IRT), which is designed to estimate the latent parameters of test participants and the parameters of test tasks using the mathematical-statistical measurement models. All IRT models differ in the number of variables used in them. The best known are the one-parameter Rasch model, the two-parameter and three-parameter Birnbaum models. The authors suggest a method for assessing students’ knowledge, which takes into account the time spent on solving a particular task. They argue that the methodology for assessing the quality of students’ knowledge should be designed using the methods and tools of artificial intelligence implemented in the MatLab Fuzzy Logic Toolbox as an adaptive neural-fuzzy inference system ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro – Fuzzy Inference System). The hybrid system ANFIS is a combination of Sugeno neuro-fuzzy inference method with an option of teaching artificial neural network of direct propagation with one output and several inputs that are fuzzy linguistic variables. The conducted studies allow us to conclude that computer simulation based on fuzzy logic makes it possible to quantitatively describe a qualitative assessment of the results of activities, which indicates significant potential of fuzzy modeling in the field of solving problems of modern education. The introduction of a new system of testing in the educational process stipulates the empowerment of teachers and students.
